I love the feeling of this place because they did not try to change the booths, or the wall paper, or put on new paint and change it to something it is not. The "lounge" portion of the bar has black vinyl seats straight from the 70s and velvety wallpaper you haven't seen since you visited your grandmother's house back in the 3rd grade. The men's room has a trough, need I say more. ![]() The wood tables were painted about 100 years ago and have thousands of guests names scratched in them. The bar is an old wooden bar with all the ambience you could ever ask for. Decor - As stated in some of the other reviews, this is a very old building. And The Vida Band puts a nice little Latin twist on all your old rock favorites. With local favorites like The Lazy Blue Tunas and the Barrel House Cats playing there, you can't go wrong. I have seen dozens of bands at Fink's, and they have always been pretty good. Bands - On Saturday night, there is always a band. Go and visit and they will treat you like family too. I have always had good service there and am treated like family. Everybody if friendly, professional, and very good at what they do. Staff - Fink's has simply the best staff of any bar in the entire world. If you get a burrito on Tuesday, you get a t-shirt!!! Food is served on only the very best of paper plates. The main menu consists of mainly Mexican food and the pulled chicken soft tacos are pretty darn good. Your typical appetizers with nachos and fried food. And, they always have a beer special or two. If you order mixed drinks, you can actually taste the alcohol. If you are drinking whisky on the rocks, they give you a good pour at a fair price. In addition to the selection, the prices are fair. WHY? Drinks - They have a great selection of liquor, bottled beer, and tap beer (12 taps now I do believe). To my wife and I, this is the best bar on the north side of Grand Rapids. We've had the opportunity to enjoy the full gamut of experiences Nick Fink's has to offer (paranormal activity included) and welcome one-and-all to join us for a drink at the original, the infamous, the legendary, oldest bar in GR. For others, Nick Fink's is a historical landmark that must be experienced and cherished. For many Comstock Park natives, Nick Fink's is the quintessential neighborhood tavern with a relaxed environment to enjoy happy hour, the big game, live music, and celebratory evenings out. We simply couldn't do without all the vintage character of the original bar top, old-school beer cooler, tufted patent leather booths, and the iconic gold and black velvet wallpaper. To be completely honest, we made a few alterations (new kitchen, new patio, and a banquet room), but the original decor remains largely untouched.
